          Before sixty years the literacy rate of India was around 25-30% in Males and around 10% in Males whereas as per the 2011 census it is around 80-85% in Male and around 65-70% in Females. You can see the rapid change and growth in the literacy rate in the years. And the average annual household spending on education is 3537 rupees in rural and 12348 rupees in the urban area as per 2014 - 2015 prices whereas it was around 735 rupees in Rural and 3116 rupees in urban as on 1993 - 1994. And the increasing education expenses is one of the main reason many poor people stop their education after 12^th standard and go for jobs . Even-though you can apply for various jobs in Government sector after your 12^th it's necessary nowadays to get a graduation as it widens your career opportunity.
