Union Public Service Commission – UPSC Recruitment 2017 notification has been issued for the CDS exam 2017. Details of this UPSC Notification are explained below. UPSC Recruitment 2017

UPSC Notification has been issued for the CDS exam 2017. Vacancies available in this combined defence service exam are 150 vacancies in the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, 45 vacancies in the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. 32 Vacancies in Indian Air Force Academy, Hyderabad. 32 vacancies in  Officers Training Academy, Chennai and 11 Vacancies in officers training academy Chennai for SSC women (Non-Technical course). Candidates willing to attend this UPSC CDS exam have to apply online before 02nd December 2016.

About UPSC Combined Defence Service exam
CDS exam is conducted by Union Public Service Commission for the recruitment of candidates to the defence sector academies like Indian Military Academy, Officers Training academy, Indian Naval academy and Indian Air Force academy. Only unmarried graduates can apply for this CDS Exam. Candidates who successfully pass this UPSC exam will be posted after the interview held by Service Selection Board.

Salary – 15600-39100/- + grade pay of 5400 + Rs 6000 MSP

Age Limit
For IMA and Indian Naval Academy – Born between 02-01-1994 and 01-01-1999
For Air Force academy – 20-24 Years (Born between 02-01-1994 and 01-01-1998) 
For Officers Training Academy (SSC Men and Women) – Born between 02-01-1993 and 01-01-1999

Education Qualification
IMA and Officers Training Academy – Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university
For Indian Naval Academy – Degree in Engineering from a recognized university
For Air Force Academy – Graduation from a recognized university with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level Or B.E from a recognized university

Note: candidates who are pursuing the final year of Degree can also apply for this UPSC Recruitment 2016, provided that he/she should not have any present backlog. They will be required to submit the proof of passing the degree examination at the time of SSB interview.

Selection Procedure

Selection for these posts will be based on UPSC CDS exam and Interview.
Candidates who pass the UPSC exam will have to attend the SSB interview which consists of two steps. Step one will be of Officer Intelligence rating Test (OIR), Picture perception and Description Test (PP and DT). Candidates will be shortlisted for the second step on the basis of performance in OIR, PP And DD. 

The second step consists of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Test and Conference

UPSC CDS Exam pattern

The CDS exam will be of Matriculation standard for Mathematics and Graduate standard for other papers. The exam will be of Objective type and the UPSC exam pattern is as follows.

For Admission to IMA, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy
English – For 100 marks with 2 hours duration
General Knowledge – For 100 marks with 2 hours duration
Elementary Duration – For 100 marks and 2 hours duration

For Admission to Officers Training academy
English – For 100 marks and 2 Hours Duration
General Knowledge – For 100 marks with 2 hours duration 

How to Apply
Candidates have to visit the website upsconline.nic.in and apply by filling the UPSC Online application  form. Candidates have to read the instructions carefully before applying online. And candidates are required pay the application fees by downloading the fees payment challan of State Bank of India or by any online mode while filling the UPSC online application form.
